Bariatric Surgery Outcomes

Weight loss following bariatric surgery ranges from 59 to 72% of excess body weight, and takes place over the 12- to 14-month period after surgery.

Effect on Comorbidities

Interest in bariatric and metabolic surgery has been heightened by the introduction of safer and less invasive procedures and by the publication of evidence showing long-term surgery-related outcomes. More information about the potential benefits of bariatric surgery can also be found on the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery website
