PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
History
Temple University Hospital’s (TUH) PGY1 Pharmacy Residency was first accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in 1969. This well-established program is flexible to meet the specific needs and goals of each individual resident. Most recently, the TUH PGY1 & PGY2 SOT residency programs were re-accredited for the maximum duration of 8 years by ASHP in 2024. The PGY2 ID program is up for reaccreditation this year.
Mission
Our mission is to provide safe, comprehensive, high quality, patient specific, pharmaceutical care in an environment of professionalism, respect, and integrity.
Statement of Purpose
PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
Opportunities
There are five PGY1 Pharmacy Residency positions available at Main campus, the primary site for the PGY1 residency program. Elective opportunities can be chosen at Jeanes campus as well.
