History

Located in Northeast Philadelphia, Jeanes Hospital was formed in 1928 through a provision in the will of Anna T. Jeanes, a Philadelphia Quaker. The provisions in the will were for the establishment of a hospital for “Cancerous, Nervous and Disabling Ailments.” The hospital’s focus changed over the years and became a thriving community hospital that provides a range of adult medical and surgical services. Jeanes Hospital joined the Temple University Health System in 1996.

In 2020, Jeanes Hospital formally became a campus of Temple University Hospital. Now known as Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus, more Temple doctors, programs, and advanced treatment options can be found right in Northeast Philadelphia.

While part of a major academic medical center, Jeanes Campus staff and physicians remain committed to providing the same neighborly feel area residents have known and trusted for nearly 100 years.
