Our program emphasizes proper patient selection, excellence in surgery and devotion to post-operative care. We offer all forms of bariatric and metabolic surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and revisional surgical procedures.
Dedicated Bariatric Unit
For the comfort and safety of our patients, Temple University Hospital and Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus have dedicated bariatric surgical units, with rooms and equipment designed for the special needs of bariatric patients.
Weight-Loss Surgery Team
Our multidisciplinary team consists of surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, surgical assistants, registered dietitians, certified bariatric registered nurses, psychologists, case managers and home caregivers. All Temple bariatric surgeons are board-certified and are members of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Our Commitment to Care
Our multidisciplinary team thoroughly evaluates all patients and educates them about the different surgical options and the risks associated with each procedure. Surgery is performed only when the team is satisfied that the patient fully understands the life-changing nature of these procedures.
Bariatric surgery patients have the best outcomes when they are followed consistently after surgery. The Temple bariatric surgery team is committed to long-term care and schedules regular follow-up appointments with each patient. If a problem develops after surgery, the team moves quickly to minimize any risks to the patient.
All Temple bariatric surgery patients are encouraged to attend the program’s monthly support group meeting. Exercise classes are also available as well as psychologists for individual post-operative counseling.
